FAAS - Friends of Attleboro Animal Shelter - Who are We and Why are We Here?

Friends of Attleboro Animal Shelter (FAAS) is an all volunteer, non-profit group dedicated to providing financial and volunteer support to the Attleboro Animal Shelter.

My goal with this blog is to keep people up to date on what’s going on with Friends of Attleboro Animal Shelter.  Whether it’s an Animal with special needs, a pet of the Week or happening things I thought this would be a great way to express it all.  Raising awareness is half the battle for our furry friends, so join me on this journey of “Being a Voice for the Ones Who Cannot Speak"!

The Friends of Attleboro Animal Shelter (FAAS) is an all volunteer, non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing financial and volunteer support to the Attleboro Animal Shelter.  We provide care for hundreds of unwanted, stray and needy cats and dogs that annually pass through the shelter. On a daily basis, our volunteers provide these homeless animals with nourishment, medical treatment, affection, training and most of all, help in finding a loving new home.

Each year, hundreds of abandoned companion cats and dogs looking for a second chance in life are successfully placed in loving homes through adoptions facilitated by FAAS.  We work hand-in-hand with the Attleboro Animal Shelter. Through their cooperation, we are able to help more animals than city funds could provide.

What you can’t see from any website or from any blog, is the passion and dedication the FAAS family has!  Every paw that walks through the doors of the Attleboro Animal Shelter leaves an imprint in our hearts.  We say it all the time, but can never stress it enough – Animals are NOT disposable – they are a lifetime commitment.  We believe that every animal that arrives in our shelter deserves that lifetime commitment and deserves a new chapter in life and it is our job to make that dream a reality!

The FAAS family is constantly fundraising, it’s not because we like to, it’s because we have to.  These animals rely on us for food, Veterinary care, Training, and everything else that goes along with providing quality care for an animal. Just because they are Shelter animals doesn’t mean they are less deserving than the animals that resides in your own home!  Each year we incur about 80k in expenses and every penny is spent on the care and well-being of the Shelter Animals.  Whether it is a Dog in our care that needs entropion surgery or a Cat with a broken femur, we are there for them every step of the way – it is what we do!

Next time you are out and about come on down and see us at the shelter!  We always welcome visitors and are always seeking donations and the ability to raise awareness!  We are right off Pond Street (near the compost site) and we are there Wednesday’s from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday’s from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and again on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Stop by and see what all the tail waggin’ and purring is about – we don’t bite!

PLEASE ADOPT – DON’T SHOP – Shelter animals are not broken, they are simply more experience with Life!
