WILL the City COUNCIL approve HIGHER FEES, new fees, new taxes ?

It appears likely that the Attleboro Municipal Council will be voting this coming Tuesday, May 20th, on whether to approve various higher fees, new fees, and new local taxes.

Let's remember that the City Councilors are elected to REPRESENT THE PEOPLE.   Many councilors forget this solemn obligation.   The question next Tuesday evening will be, "Will the Council look after the best interest of the City taxpayers, or will it vote to RAISE City revenues at the expense of taxpayers."

For example, how do you like the idea of ponying up fifty bucks every year just for your outside grill that is fueled by propane.   Suppose you need or decide that your basement oil burner needs replacing.   A new one should be more efficient in using home heating oil that costs as much as gasoline these days. Yup; that's ANOTHER fifty bucks . . just for the privilege of "upgrading".

Another part of the mayor's package for increased City revenues is to TRIPLE the cost of an ambulance ride to a hospital . . . like from $700 to around $2300.   Oh, and that's plus 'mileage'.   That could be one expensive broken leg or whatever.

Are you paying high enough taxes and fees to the City yet?   Aren't you scraping to pay bills every month?   Don't your kids need some new shoes or clothes next August, in time for school start-up?   Are you noticing that the cost of government goes up faster than your ability to pay for it?   Isn't it past time for government to spend less by spending at a slower rate of increase?
