What's the percentage for those with "alcohol abuse"?

  I read an unsubstantiated claim recently, in a local paper's financial advice column of all places, the following:  that 30% of adults "have an alcohol abuse disorder".

  I don't know how this was determined, nor the definitions for earning a place within such a category.   But I find it troubling, to be honest:  I didn't think it would be that high.

  What do Patch readers think?   Is this claim credible?
