No more parent - teacher conferences at AHS
I have heard, and got confirmed, that there will be no more, in-the-flesh, parent-teacher conference nights at AHS . . . that it'll be done "on-line".
Well, having the opportunity for "on-line" is a good thing; but in my express opinion, as a parent and a former school committee member, the "on-line" opportunity should be IN ADDITION TO, NOT IN PLACE OF PERSON-T0-PERSON CONTACT. There is no adequate substitute for in-person brief discussion(s).
Think about it, parents: how important is your kid? Are they more important than your golf or bowling score, your 401k, or the Red Sox? I should hope so.
It is my express opinion that every parent should show up for every parent-teacher conference opportunity: to fail to do so, sends a truly dreadful message . . for which no parent can afford. It is, as my old boss used to say about certain occasions, "It's a command performance". Indeed.
