Money literally being thrown away . . . . . Attleboro taxpayer monies

To concentrate on the City problem at hand:  what will the City receive in exchange for the expensive court judgment against the ARA and the City?

Nothing.

To help understand this point, let's compare this fact versus the obfuscating baloney we'll hear at the Tues. eve. 'special' Council meeting.   The claim is basically that the 'old' ARA spent money recklessly, endangering its solvency.  Even if that were true, such would not grant the right to break the law, which is what the courts found the mayor did, and confirmed during repeated appeals.

Suppose you found a really nice used car that is in well-above-average condition.   The market for a seven-year-old version of the model under consideration is, say, $5,000, on average.   But you, because it's "just what I wanted", the color, the options, etc., you agree to pay the seller's asking price of $8,000.   So, you could be considered having spent money recklessly.   However, you are now the proud owner of a fine Benz, BMW or whatever, just the precise kind that you wanted.   In other words, you have something of value in exchange, even though you over-paid.

In comparison, what does the ARA / City gain in exchange for paying a court judgment due to carelessness and irresponsibility?   Nothing.   Absolutely nothing.   It is TOTAL WASTE . . like tossing 17,500 one-hundred-dollar bills onto last Saturday's downtown bonfire.   Does that make ANY sense at all?   Could it have been prevented?   Yes.

Watchers of the next Council session on Tues., 2/25, whether in person or on AACS TV, will NOT be told any of this.   It will be a total dis-information campaign, designed to fool everyone:  city councilors, included.   You, the Patch reader, need not be among them.
