Councilor Heather Porreca shows courage

Attleboro City Councilor-at-Large Heather Porreca showed courage in voting against the exorbitant, very excessive amount of money to build a new City dog shelter.   While it's true that a new shelter is needed, there are lots of buildings already available which could have been chosen to be rehabbed into a first-place dog shelter . . . such as the former Josten's building in the Attleboro Industrial Park off County Street.   A fully satisfactory shelter, with A'C, hot & cold running water, heat, yada, yada, could have cost a mere fraction of the approved waste of at least three-fourths of a million dollars.

Plainly, spending the planned $1.42 million bucks is excessive, by any reasonable standard or measure.   The politicians, led by Kevin Dumas, kow-towed to a special interest group.

BTW, what's to prevent a dog 'owner' from abandoning their dog in Attleboro?   Guess who picks up the tab:  the City taxpayers.   Is this responsible government?   I don't think so.   Dumas spends money as bad as J. Robbins did.
