Should All Local Restaurants Pay Same Grease Trap Inspection Fees?
Should all local restaurants pay the same grease trap inspection fees?
On top of local restaurant owners having to pay anywhere from ten to forty thousand dollars for the mandated grease trap equipment, now the city's Wastewater Department wants to charge quarterly and annual "inspection" fees, at $600 per annum.
The fair question is: Should every restaurant have to pay the same fee rate irrespective of how much grease, oils and fats they put into the wastewater system? It seems unfair for a sandwich shop without a fryolator to have to pay the same expensive inspection fees as an establishment that generates lots of grease as a byproduct of their normal operations.
Further, should not the inspection by the Wastewater Department take place where the discharge pipe meets the sewer main in the street?
