Help a Local Cancer Survivor Propose

An Attleboro resident has taken to GoFundMe.com to ask for help raising money for a local cancer survivor.

Attleboro Resident Stephanie Alberto writes:

18 months ago, Brandon was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer at the age of 28. In his fight, he endured multiple invasive surgeries, chemotherapy, and painful diagnostic tests. Today, Brandon's cancer is in full remission and he is on the path to recovery!

Throughout this terrifying and stressful chapter of his life, Brandon's girlfriend of 12 years was always by his side. Amanda drove him to countless appointments at Dana Farber in Boston, cared for him hand over foot at home after surgeries and offered him support throughout every stage of his treatment. With set back after set back, other family illnesses and deaths, and living on one income the two have been through A LOT over the past 18 months.

Now, on the other side of a year and a half of illness, Brandon and Amanda face over $200,000 in medical bills. Despite this massive debt, Brandon and Amanda spend significant amounts of time volunteering in their community and supporting organizations such as the Jimmy Fund in Boston. As some of the most selfless people I know, they would never think of asking for financial help for themselves, but continue to raise money (over $2000 so far) for others battling cancer. Hence, why this is being created in their name.

Brandon's only wish after enduring a life changing illness, is to be able to finally give the love of his life the ring that she has always wanted. Please consider helping this most deserving couple take the next step in their life together. Thank you on behalf of Brandon and Amanda.

Unlike other crowdfunding websites like Kickstarter, GoFundMe focuses more on helping people fund very personal goals. So in addition to traditional charitable causes, you may find someone who is asking for help financing a car payment or paying for a honeymoon.
