Viewfinder: A Cool Place to Take Refuge

Take a hike at the Martin Wildlife Reserve.

As we plow head first into summer, looking for somewhere cool can be a challenge. One such idea would be a leisurely walk in the woods. Grab the bug spray and head over the the Martin Wildlife Refuge located across from the rn.

There are two entrances both with parking for three to four cars. The main entrance - especially if you want to hike - is at 379 Fall River Ave. adjacent to the American Legion Hall. From this side, you can access trails that cover most of the property on the west side of Burt's Pond. The second entrance is located just before 511 Fall River Ave. Here is a great fishing spot and a beautiful waterfall. You can hike the patch around the east side of the pond and it will take you across a bridge and meet up with the trails from the other side.
