Trains Offline After Derailment on Providence/Stoughton Commuter Line

A derailment on an Amtrak rail line in Rhode Island is stopping train service to T.F. Green and Wickford Junction.

Shuttle buses are replacing trains on Rhode Island stops by the Providence/Stoughton commuter train following a derailment by a freight train on Tuesday afternoon.

Commuters traveling on the Massuchsetts Bay Transit Authority lines to TF Green and Wickford Junction will be shuttled via buses until further notice after a freight train car derailed between somewhere between Kingston and Providence at about 12:35 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25.

Amtrak confirmed a derailment at 1:54 p.m. on its Twitter account on Rhode Island tracks that is causing delays for service between New York City and Boston. Departures from Providence are estimated to be running 2 hours and 8 minutes late.
