Nighttime Bug Killer to Paint Seekonk Streets

The Bristol County Mosquito Control Project will be spraying insecticide throughout the week.

If you see trucks billowing chemical clouds throughout the night, don't assume it's a vehicular malfunction.

The Bristol County Mosquito Project will be spraying for mosquitoes in Seekonk throughout the week. Low levels of West Nile virus were found earlier in the week, according to a Seekonk Board of Health press release.

But you most likely will not see workers - and it's not because the trucks are quiet. The vehicles will canvass the town with a chemical called Anvil, an insecticide, during the hours of 2 to 6 a.m. The chemicals dissipate in 10 minutes.

According to Barbara Johnson, an employee of the agency, the locations of the spraying cannot be released but streets of Seekonk will be targeted.

Officials still urge residents to wear long sleeves and pants throughout peak mosquito times.
