Banana Joe Named Best in Show

Attleboro resident Tina Truesdale's Banana Joe was named Best in Show Tuesday at the 137th annual Westminster Kennel Club Show in New York City's Madison Square Garden. She is the wife of William Truesdale, veterinarian at Central Ave Veterinary Hospital in Seekonk.

Banana Joe is a veteran of the dog show circuit. He has won more than 80 Best in Show titles in Europe and North America, making him the top award winner of all time in his breed.

Man Dies in Route 123 Crash

Norton resident William Lozeau was pronounced dead at Sturdy Memorial Hospital Tuesday following a crash on Route 123.

The 50-year-old man hit a town plow truck head on near St. Mary's Church, authorities said. The driver of the plow, Rhode Island resident George Guptill, was travelling in the eastbound lane when Lozeau came from the opposite direction into that lane.

The crash caused the road to be closed for an hour and a half. The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Public Hearing on Mansfield Dog Attack

The Mansfield Board of Selectmen voted 5-0 this week to have a public hearing later this month and accept a report by animal control concerning a complaint filed about a vicious dog attack.

Filed by the lawyer of Dawn Herbert-Miller, the complaint from Jan. 3 stems from a dog attack on his 6-year-old son. Herbert-Miller said his son needed more than 400 stitches, surgery and ongoing treatment.
