Farewell to Patch

It has been a great experience.

After two and a half years as an editor at Patch, today marks my final day as an employee of this company. Working here has been a great experience, and the decision to leave is mine.

My Patch life can be divided into two phases. The first one began in late 2010 when I started the site in Malibu, Calif. Running Malibu Patch had its challenges, but I had already been covering this city for several years as a newspaper reporter, so there was no learning curve when it came to being familiar with the community.

The second phase of my Patch life came in March 2012, when I traveled from one side of the country to the other and became editor of Attleboro-Seekonk Patch. Being unfamiliar with the two communities and their vibrant and long histories, this time there was an extreme learning curve.

Although I would never consider myself an expert on either Attleboro or Seekonk, I think I have come a long way. And the only reason I reached this point is because of the many residents who helped me—people who are proud of their hometown and want to share information about it. Thanks to all of you.

I will be living in Boston, but I will continue following what is happening in Attleboro, Seekonk and Swansea. Of course, I wll get a great deal of information by reading the Patch sites, but I also want to hear from you. Please keep in touch by emailing me at jonathanjournalism@gmail.com.

Thanks for making my first year in Massachusetts an interesting and fun experience.
