Attleboro One of 20 Municipalities to Win Benjamin Moore's "Main Street Matters" Competition

A few blocks in Attleboro will receive a free paint job.

Two to three blocks in Attleboro will receive a makeover beginning this summer.

Attleboro was chosen Monday as one of 20 communities to participate in Benjamin Moore's "Main Street Matters" program. The program will provide a paint job to two to three blocks in Attleboro, with Benjamin Moore paying for paint and supplies needed for facades, porches, railings, shutters and other exterior building trims. The company will also provide experts and painters needed for labor.

Attleboro was originally announced as a "top 100" finalist in May. An online voting competition lasted through the end of June.

"From the outpouring of excitement, it’s clear that each of the Main Streets on the voting map embodies the spirit of this effort," according to Monday's announcement released by Benjamin Moore. "We’ve really enjoyed getting to know all of the communities, and hope that being a part of this program has reinvigorated excitement for supporting local businesses."

The project will begin this summer and last approximately a year, according to Benjamin Moore. The company said it will be working with local officials and community members throughout the course of the project.
