Minnie's full story is below:

"Minnie” as we now call her was found by a caring Attleboro resident at the intersection of Brown Street and Mendon Road.  Senior Animal Control Officer Butch Keefer was dispatched to pick up the emaciated dog on June 24, 2013.

In light of Minnie’s poor health, she was immediately brought to Central Ave Veterinary for care.  It is believed that Minnie is about 3 to 4 years old and should weigh approximately 50-55lbs and currently weighs 30.1 lbs.   After an extensive exam we knew she was Dehydrated and Emaciated and required IV fluids immediately.  It was also noticed that her abdomen was extended and hard, so we proceeded with an X-Ray and Ultrasound.  Following the results from the images, we could see her abdomen was full of fluids.  She was vomiting quite a bit, which consisted of some Debris, Uncooked Rice and even a condom.

On June 26, 2013 she went thru an exploratory surgery.  The team at Central Ave Veterinary had to go into her stomach, empty all the content and ended up removing approximately 2lbs of what looks to be dried hard uncooked rice which was like cement  in her system. They also made a small incision in her Intestine and found a small area of compacted Rice. They then flushed her stomach with Saline and also spayed her while they were in there. They also ran a TLI to test for any Pancreatic deficiencies in which we do not have those results as of yet.   She will remain at the Vet for atleast a few more days where they will continue IV fluids, medications and monitor her progress.
