PHILIP ALKANA, RRT, OF ATTLEBORO IS NAMED CLINICAL CARE SPECIALIST AT RELIABLE RESPIRATORY

Philip Alkana of Attleboro, Mass.,  a highly respected Registered Respiratory Therapist with 30 years of experience helping patients to breathe easier and sleep better, has joined the staff of Reliable Respiratory based in Norwood. He is serving as Clinical Care Specialist.

Alkana brings to the job a wealth of experience in home healthcare and clinical research as well as hospital-based management  and clinical positions.  He worked on research involving pulmonary and respiratory care at Boston’s Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston Medical Center and Tufts Medical Center.

He was Director of Respiratory Care at New England Sinai Hospital and Franciscan Children’s Hospital, and held clinical and management posts at several New York health care facilities including N. Y. Presbyterian Hospital.

Alkana graduated NYU’s School of Respiratory Therapy, earned a BA at Empire State College (SUNY), and an MA degree at Columbia University in Medical Informatics.

A paper co-authored by Alkana, ‘Acute respiratory distress syndrome: epidemiology and management approaches,’ was published last year in Clinical Epidemiology. A member of the American Association for Respiratory Care, he volunteers as a tutor at the Attleboro Literacy Center.
