Seekonk's Newman YMCA recently received a grant from Walmart to provide healthy meals to young people this summer, according to a press release issued by the the YMCA of Greater Providence. A total of three grants were issued to area YMCAs, reads the release.

Each year, when school vacation begins, the opportunity to receive a free lunch ends for many children. Through this partnership between Walmart and the YMCA, participating families will receive free nutritious lunches and snacks for their kids, reads the release.

“We are so thankful to Walmart for their support for this initiative,” said Karen Leslie, President & CEO of the YMCA of Greater Providence. “So many families struggle to provide healthy meals for their children, especially during the summer months. These funds will help us reach children in our community who otherwise might go hungry.”
