Unemployment up Slightly in Attleboro

The February rate was 9 percent, up from 8.9 percent in January.

More Attleboro residents received unemployment assistance in February than did in January, according to statistics released Tuesday by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

The February unemployment rate was 9 percent (2,186 people), up from 8.9 percent (2,159 people) in January. The rate in February 2012 was 9.1 percent (2,252 people).

Statewide, the February unemployment rate was 6.8 percent, down from 7.4 percent in January and 7.3 percent in February 2012. The national unemployment rate for February was 7.7 percent, down from 7.9 percent in January and 8.3 percent in February 2012.
