Unemployment Rate Drops in Attleboro

The April rate is lower than the rate in March and April of last year.

Fewer Attleboro residents were out of work looking for jobs in April than were on the hunt in March, according to statistics released Tuesday by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

The April unemployment rate was 8.3 percent, down from 9.3 percent in March and 8.5 percent in April of last year. The number of unemployed people looking for work in April was 2,022, according to the state. The number was 2,284 in March.

Statewide, the unemployment rate also dropped. It was 6.3 percent in April, while it was 6.8 percent in March. The April 2012 unemployment rate was also 6.3 percent.
