Shop Locally in Attleboro and Seekonk on Small Business Saturday

Small Business Saturday is today. It is a day for everyone to support the small businesses that are essential to the community.

American Express founded the day in 2010 to help small businesses get exposure during the holiday season, when they might otherwise be overlooked. With retailers buzzing around the holidays, it is important to support local small businesses that rely on their neighbors to continue prospering and building the local economies in Attleboro and Seekonk.

"By purchasing goods and services from a local business, it helps put money right back into our local economy," said Jack Lank, president of the United Regional Chamber of Commerce, which represents businesses in Attleboro and Seekonk. "For every $1 spent, 68 cents stays in the community." 

Last year, 100 million people nationwide participated in Small Business Saturday by shopping at locally owned stores to help boost the economy and their communities.

A few local shops have notified Attleboro-Seekonk Patch that they have special sales taking place for Small Business Saturday. They are:

• Flowers by the Station (73 Union St., Attleboro): 20 percent off all holiday items from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. 
• County Square Pharmacy (289 County St., Attleboro): 35 percent off all holiday items (except individual holiday cards) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• The Bedding Center (520 Pleasant St., Attleboro): 11 percent off everything in the store from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
