Tex Barry's a Family and Attleboro Tradition

Arthur Bombardier began working at Tex Barry's Coney Island Diner in Attleboro more than 30 years ago, and he said he's happy to be at the place where he had his first job.

"My mother was working for the gentleman that had this place beforehand," he said. "I started working for her and my aunt when I was 15."

Bombardier said he wasn't always sure he was going to make and sell hotdogs for a living, but it did grow on him.

Wrentham

James Breakfast A Famous Spot in Wrentham James and Coryn Arsenault originally opened their first restaurant in Wrentham in 1999, and after a brief hiatus they returned to what they love.

“We were actually James Roadside Café from 1999 to 2007,” Coryn said. "We closed for five years, tried to find “normal jobs,” quote unquote, but in the five years, we were gone we realized there’s nothing better than working for yourself.”

Coryn said she and her husband wanted to have jobs that allowed them to start and raise their growing family at the time of the original closing. She said the hours were too long, 16-18 hours a day, and they wanted to make sure they had time for their children.

 Ed Johnson at Quality Auto in Easton Shares His Love For Cars

Ed Johnson started Quality Auto in Easton 25 years ago, but he said his love for cars developed far earlier.

“I’ve been around cars for 40 years,” he said. “I guess you could say it grew into me learning to love what I was doing.”

Johnson said he originally started working on vehicles when he got his first job at a gas station, changing oil and fixing tires.

He also used to race with his friends.

Bog Iron Brewery Making a Splash in Norton

Frank White, Brian Shurtleff and Matt Menard said they always had a passion for brewing beer, and now they’re getting to fulfill their passion at Bog Iron Brewery in Norton.

They all have been brewing beer individually with small brewing kits for years.

“Anybody who’s ever been a homebrewer, they sit around and daydream about this,” Shurtleff said. “We took one small step and then another, and we just kept going from there.”

The trio agreed it has been hard, but in 2012 they opened the brewery.

Seekonk

Best Pizza of Seekonk Brings 30-Plus Years of Experience

 

Dennis Hashway, owner of Best Pizza of Seekonk for more than 20 years, started in the pizza business when he was just 16 in Cumberland, R.I.

“I just love the business,” he said. “I worked in the business and with the people and I just fell in love.”

Hashway said he first started while working for the Cumberland House of Pizza in 1976 and various other pizza places in Smithfield and Gloucester, but always wanted to do something more.
