Readers Choose Sala Cafe for Best Asian Food

The restaurant specializes in Thai and Lao food.

When it comes to finding the best Asian cuisine in Attleboro and Seekonk, a majority of voters in this week's Readers' Choice poll like to go to . The Attleboro restaurant/bar, which specializes in Thai and Lao food as well as a specialty drink menu, received 37 percent of the vote.

Coming in second place was the Chinese restaurant Singapore, which received the backing of 20 percent of the voters. Also receiving significant support was , which is also offers Chinese food.

"I've gotten takeout from here several times and have always found the service to be good and the food to be delicious," a reviewer on Yelp.com wrote about Sala Cafe. "It's great to be able to get Thai food in Attleboro."

The word "sala" means "resting place" in Thai, according to Sala Cafe's website. Salas are open-sided pavilion or gazebos in Thailand located along river banks, roads and in gardens. People gather at them "to take a break, eat, relax, meet friends and share stories," the website states.

Sala Cafe is located at 80 O'Neil Blvd. in Attleboro. It is open Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
