Not Your Average Joe’s Opens Today

Seekonk residents will have a new dining option on Route 6 starting today.

Not Your Average Joe’s celebrates the grand opening of its newest location today at 1125 Fall River Avenue. The restaurant takes the place of the defunct Bugaboo Creek’s Steakhouse.

The restaurant, which has 15 locations in Massachusetts and one in Virginia, is hoping to mix its brand of food with the local flavor of Seekonk.

“We really like to stay involved in the community,” said Seth Caplan, the general manger of the Seekonk location.

Caplan says Not Your Average Joe’s uses fresh ingredients and often purchases from local farmers. As a result they have a seasonal menu that changes every six months to reflect what is in season and freshly available.

“We want people to try new things,” he said.

Adding to the local flavor are the local beers that will be on tap, as well as other microbrews, like Dogfish Head Ale, that are not typically available on tap in most restaurants. Caplan said the local drafts available will change every three months.

In the spirit of connecting to the community, Not Your Average Joe's also has a monthly local charity of choice. The restaurant asks for donations for the charity, while giving 15 percent of its sales toward the charity at the end of the month. The first charity to be benefited is the Friends of the Seekonk Public Library, a volunteer nonprofit that works to improve the .

Not Your Average Joe's features a lunch menu that is available until 4 p.m. and a dinner menu available starting at 4 p.m. There is also a pizza bar with four seats so you can watch your pizza being made while you wait.

Additionally, the menu features a gluten-free section for those with allergies or other dietary restrictions. Caplan said the menu as a whole is friendly to anyone with allergies as everything is made to order and you can request your meal however you like.

“We want people to come as they are, whether that is in a business suit or shorts and flip flops,” said Caplan of the restaurant's atmosphere.

Not Your Average Joe’s hours are 11:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and noon until 9 p.m. on Sundays.
