No Change to Attleboro Unemployment Rate

In January 2012 and January 2013, the rate was 9 percent.

The unemployment rate changed each month in Attleboro during the past year, but by the beginning of 2013, it was back to where it was 12 months earlier, according to statistics released Tuesday by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

The number of people collecting unemployment checks in January of this year was 2,208. The amount was 2,200 in January 2012. Both numbers translate to a 9 percent unemployment rate, according to the state agency. The number was 2,207 (8.2 percent) in December 2012, but seasonal factors are likely the reason for this difference.

Unemployment statewide was also nearly identical for January 2012 (7.5 percent) and January 2013 (7.4 percent), the state reported.
