Destroyed Car in Attleboro a Reminder of the Dangers of Drinking and Driving

Robert's Tuxedo hopes its message is heard loud and clear by students.

Robert's Tuxedo Co. in South Attleboro wants students and parents to understand the store's message loud and clear. A "Don't Drink and Drive" sign outside the store spells out that message, but the crushed car from a drunk driving accident on the side of the sign leaves an even bigger impression.

The tuxedo shop located at the intersection of Newport and Highland avenues has been putting a crashed car in front of its store for the last eight years as a stark reminder to students to not drink and drive.

Store manager Sheena Costa said the car and sign are a way to get parents talking and teenagers thinking about what can happen after drinking and driving. Owner Robert Martins came up with the idea and chooses this time of year to feature the car in hopes that it sends a clear message to the hundreds of passersby and students who enter the store looking for that perfect tuxedo for prom night.
