Attleboro YMCA Works to Make Membership More Affordable

Attleboro YMCA simplifies membership assistance process.

In an effort to make membership at the more affordable, the Y has introduced a new membership policy on rates.

The new policy dubbed "Membership for All" is expected to make membership more affordable for everyone, according to the YMCA.

In the past, the Y has offered financial assistance to members based on the same sliding scale. And when the Y's Board of Directors noticed that many people in the community and members utilizing the program were not aware that they qualified for assistance, they decided to revamp their policy.

“With Membership for All, we’re eliminating the need to ask,” Attleboro YMCA Chief Executive Robin McDonald said in a press release. “You walk in the door, pick up your membership application, and simply circle the rate that fits your household size and income. That’s all there is to it.”

While the Y’s old financial assistance program required an application and review process, the new program enables all potential members to become members, get their access card, and use the Y’s facilities and programs immediately. The only caveat is that they then have 30 days to verify their household income in order to maintain their rate.

The Attleboro Y is able to offer the new program because of donations made through the annual Best Friends Fundraising Campaign.
