Attleboro Farmers Market Starts in Two Weeks

is in the rearview mirror (for now) and soon the fun can begin in the municipal parking lot at 74 North Main Street with opening day at the . The first of the weekly sessions will begin June 2, and continue every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. through Oct. 27 except for one week in September.

Farmers Market officials announced this week that the market will include a variety of vendors. Some of them are:

• Dufort Farm with USDA grass-fed beef, pastured pork, jams and jellies
• Nason Family Honey, Products of the Hive with honey, honey based soaps, balms and lotions
• Fresh Catch Seafood
• Scorpio's with fresh bread and bruschetta
• Del's Lemonade
• Edgewater Farm
• Wetu Farm
• Proofed Bakery
• Eagle Mountain Maple Products
• Butter Café and Bakery
• Karen Kullas with composting
• John Atkinson's Recycled Silverware (jewelry)

The market will sponsor a weekly food drive, with non-perishable and not-out-of-date items collected from market visitors to benefit local food pantries. Those who bring items will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a Kindle.

Also, this year the market will start a new sunflower tradition during the Attleboro Memorial Day Parade on May 26.

"AFM hopes to begin a new tradition by giving out packets of sunflower seeds, asking that families plant the seeds and participate in a Sunflower Growing Contest," a press release from the market states. "Each packet contains approximately 80 sunflower seeds, hence AFM is requesting that parade attendees grab one packet per family and share the seeds with neighbors and friends. Let's make Attleboro the new Sunflower City."
