Who Won Attleboro's City Election?

Names like Ronald Churchill, Heather Porreca, Dianne Sawyer, and Lori Scales will be representing Attleboro residents for the next two years.

Unofficial results are in and Attleboro residents will have a few new faces representing them on city council and school committee beginning in January.

In total, 4,723 cards were cast on Election Day Tuesday. The number represents only 17.86 percent of the 26,447 registered voters in Attleboro.

In the At-Large City Council race, newcomer Ronald Churchill was the top vote-getter with 16.2 percent of the vote. The former fire chief and mayoral candidate earned 2,703 votes. Heather Porreca, who came in fifth with 14.9 percent of the vote will be the other new face on the council. 2,499 residents voted for the head of Attleboro's Farmers Market.

Incumbents Richard Conti, Brian Kirby and Peter Blais were re-elected for their At-Large seats. Conti had 15.9 percent (2,666 votes), followed by Kirby with 15.7 percent (2,623 votes). Blais earned 15.4 percent of the vote (2,582).

Not winning re-election was Jay Dilisio, with 13.7 percent (2,284 votes). Stephen Kane received 7.6 percent of the vote.

In the At-Large School Committee race, incumbent David Murphy was the top vote-getter with 23.4 percent of the vote. Murphy earned 2,553 votes. Julienne Singer earned a seat on the board with 19.2 percent (2,096 votes) and James Stors also earned a spot with 18.4 percent (2,002 votes).

Incumbent Barbara Craw was not re-elected. Craw came in with 12.93 percent of the vote and 1,406 total votes. Roberta Wuilleumier also came in short at 16.47 percent (1,791 votes) and Jim Burns earned 9.2 percent (1,001 votes).

In the Wards, City Council President Frank Cook beat out John Davis in Ward 3. Cook earned 58.88 percent of the vote (587 total votes). Davis came in with 40.92 percent (408 total votes).

Jonathan Weydt beat out Kathleen Hohlfeld in the Ward 4 City Council race. Weydt, the incumbent, earned 58.2 percent of the vote (553 total votes). Hohlfield earned 41 percent of the vote (395 total votes).

In the School Committee Ward races, Dianne Sawyer beat Pam McGovern in Ward 1. Sawyer earned 61.26 percent (291 votes) and McGovern earned 37.89 percent (180 votes).

Lori Scales beat incumbent Brenda Furtado in Ward 4. Scales earned 69.85 percent (716 votes) compared to Furtado's 29.95 percent (307 votes).

Incumbent Fran Zito beat Laura Dolan in Ward 5. Zito won with 54.42 percent (277 votes) compared to Dolan's 45.38 percent (231 votes).

School Committee Chair Michael Tyler beat challenger David Blessinger in Ward 6. Tyler won with 54.21 percent (341 votes). Blessinger had 45.63 percent (287 votes).
