The 2014 Flower Show: Under the Sea

Next week will kick off the Attleboro Arts Museum's annual flower show, a show that has been celebrated with high praise in the past and should be no different this year. With the 2013 edition having been based around the theme of "Wings," this year's show takes viewers Under the Sea

Local artists will be showing off some of their work as their "nature-themed" art lines the walls, guiding in an around the full exhibit, amongst Floral/Landscape displays from more local talents. Featured this year are the Attleboro Farmer's Market, Briggs Nursery (North Attleboro), Bristol County Agricultural High School (Dighton), The Corner Flower Shoppe (Attleboro),  Cryan Landscape (Seekonk), Flowers by the Station (Attleboro) , Nolan's Flowers and Gifts (North Attleboro) and Jonathan O'Brien Landscape Architect and Contractor (Plainville).

Every day will feature new attractions as well as repeat attractions. Kim Sestak will be on hand once again this year to head up the miniature gardens station, as she works in that area from Thursday through Sunday. Each day, The Sea Glass Cafe will be serving up some delicious food from Morin's of Attleboro. Live music will also be featured each day in the cafe each day during the 12:00 hour.

Also happening each day will be special animal presentations, that are sure to be loved by both children and adults alike. Other kids events happening include Storytime with Krystal Brown of the Attleboro Public Library, a Seaside Still Life art workshop, Big Ryan's Storytelling & Puppets in addition to the very popular kid's crafts space, where kids can let their creative juices flow as they create a variety of sea creature inspirations!

Award-winning sand sculptors Sandtasia will be on hand carving a 7 ft. high, nautically-themed sand sculpture right in the center of the Museum's Ottmar Gallery. Local artists will also be stopping by the flower show to perform live paitning out in the gallery. Watch the process unfold as these artists create work based on the Floral and Landscape displays.

If all of this has you excited and eager to check out the show ASAP, then why not buy a ticket for the Wednesday night preview event, "Neptune's Night Out"? Pianist Mark Taber is stopping by to provide some musical accompaniment for the evening as we kick off this year's Flower Show. See the gardens before they open to the public and be on hand for the launch of Sandtasia's sand sculpture. Tickets include wine, beer and light hors d’oeuvres. Rates are $15 for members and $17 for non-members. All proceeds will go to benefitting all museum programs. For all other days of the Flower Show, admission is $3 per day with children ages 9 and under being free.
