Attleboro's 2014 Winter Night Festival

On February 22nd, the City of Attleboro will put on it's fifth annual Winter Night Festival. The festival began in 2010 and has been going strong since. Thoughout that time, the Attleboro Arts Museum has remained a proud partner of the event, adding more things to do to the yearly spectacle.

Inside the museum will feature an array of arts and crafts for sale, as crafters who have gone through a jurying process to take part in the night will sell their work, including a special winter item at each crafter table/booth. From jewelry to candles wearables, to artwork to soaps, even some jelly/jams, there will be much to peruse through come the night of the 22nd. Artist Adam Cristaldi will also be in house to draw caricatures for those lucky enough to get a spot in line. Caricatures are free as well as first come, first serve.

Lastly (inside the Museum), as previously blogged about, the Museum has it's yearly permanent collection display out for all to see, this time focusing on it's female component. "Ladies First" opened up on Valentines Day, and will run through March 7th. If you're interested in finding out more details about the exhibition, you can find it here.

Outside of the museum, on it's lawn, will feature a grand bonfire put on by the Attleboro Fire Department. All the meanwhile, Drums for All will be on hand to perform by the fire from 5:00 - 6:00pm and 7:00 - 8:00pm. This portion of the night is just another of the many free options that the Festival has to offer. Just across the street from the Museum at the Registry of Deeds, a sculptor from Art in Ice will be working on two ice sculptures for the Festival-goers to see.

Face painters will be out that night for those children and adults feeling a little extra festive. All the meanwhile, right nearby will be a fire juggler for your entertainment as well as some live music being played on the first floor of City Hall. (Just as a precursor, anyone in need of a bathroom trip during the evening will find their destination inside of City Hall.)

Inside the Registry of Deeds, Attleboro Jeweler's will be holding their own jewelry sale and exhibition. Within this display will also be a jewelry and gift certificate raffle! This is will be a great chance to take home some valuable jewelry and/or gift certificates. The drawing will take place at 8:30 that night, so be sure to act fast if you're interested!

Elsewhere, throughout the night as you walk from place to place, you will also notice free tractor hay rides. This classic festival activity is always enjoyed by kids and adults alike, as you take in a cool Attleboro night. Kids also have the option of going on a pony ride, courtesy of Hawkswood Farm in Rehoboth. Vendors from local restaurants will be on hand to serve up great selections at affordable prices for those who need a quick break to grab a bite to eat

Finally, right in the center of town at Gilbert Perry Square, will be two giant snow globes. One will be available for you to step into and grab a good photo opportunity in the special wintery setting. Another globe will be out and allow for some snowy playtime. With so many affordable and free things at hand, it's hard to argue stepping out for a couple hours the night of the 22nd and taking part in this great yearly event.

A rain date of Sunday the 23rd is scheduled should weather determine that the event can't be held on it's intended Saturday night. For official information or any further details, please visit the Museum's website or the City's website.
