The Seekonk Cultural Council's grant brings "Under One Sky: Stories and Songs for the Whole Family" to the Seekonk Public Library.
On Monday night, families sang along to worldly tunes during the program "Under One Sky: Stories and Songs for the Whole Family" held at the Seekonk Public Library. Storyteller Davis Bates and singer Roger Tincknell led the multigenerational chorus.
Bates and Tincknell have been performing together for over 20 years. Most of the time find themselves in schools and libraries. Using a collection of instruments from around the world, they encouraged the children and their parents to join in the fun.
The program is funded by a grant from the Seekonk Cultural Council, which is funded through donations and the Massachusetts Cultural Council. This year, they awarded nine grants for art and cultural programs for Seekonk residents, totaling $3,850. The council received over 40 applications compared to only 15 the previous year.

The library has benefited from two additional grants this year. On August 8, Henry the Juggler is scheduled to entertain at another family night program. And Gail Susan Burek is offering seasonal art workshops this summer and in the fall.
