Sandwich Bag Artist Makes Lunch Fun

Recently named "the most fun dad ever," David Laferriere puts his creative mind to good use.

When Attleboro graphic designer David Laferriere's two sons open their daily lunches, they get a visual treat. Now ages 13 and 15, their father has been drawing cartoons on their sandwich bags since they were in second and fourth grades. After creating the designs—which include imaginative monsters, animals, word games and even food—he takes photos and posts them on his Flickr page.

"I just started it as a way to jump-start my creativity in the morning and have some fun with my boys," Laferriere told the Wired Magazine blog "Geek Dad" in November. "I am a designer/illustrator, and I've been doodling, drawing, painting and creating since I was a youngster."

The sandwich bag art of Laferriere, who is a graphic designer in the communications department at Wheaton College, has been featured on several websites, including most recently MSN.com, which called him "the most fun dad ever."
