Get In The Holiday Mood: The Grinch, Train Rides and Skating

The Grinch has been spotted in the area and the express train has just arrived.

The holidays are soon upon us.  For some, it may include traveling to see loved ones or preparing for family gatherings in our homes.  As this is the last weekend before we all get caught up in the hoopla of the holiday season, take in some time for some favorite classics.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas - The Musical
Where/When: Providence Performing Arts Center, 220 Weybosset St., Providence, RI; Thursday, Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 18, at 5 and 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 5 p.m., 8 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 20, at 1 p.m., 5 p.m.
Why Go: 
Inspired by Dr. Seuss's beloved story and hit songs, "You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch" and "Welcome Christmas." Although the Grinch tries to stop Christmas from happening, he discovers there's more to Christmas than he bargain for.
Pricing: $38-$65 per person

Polar Express
Where/When: Edaville Railroad, 5 Pine St., Carver, MA - Starting on Friday, Nov. 18, continuing Nov. 19, 20, 28, 29, 30 and Monday, Dec. 5, 6, 12, 13, 24, 31 at 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m.
Why Go: 
Passengers can wear their pajamas and be transported to the North Pole. Santa will be on board to greet children and hand them their very own bell. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served.
Pricing: $18 per person (children under 2 free)

Winter Skate
Where/When: Patriot Place adjacent to Route 1 near the Renaissance Hotel and Spa, Foxboro, MA; Friday, Nov. 18, 4-11 p.m.
Why Go: 
Sharpen those skates and get on the ice for some spins. If you're really good, maybe a triple salchow. Bring a new or gently used coat for Cradles to Crayons on opening day and your admission is free.
Pricing: Adults: $8, Children under 12: $6, Senior over 65: $6

7th Annual Craft and Vendor Fair
Where/When: Venus De Milo, 75 Grand Army Highway, Swansea, MA; Sunday, Nov. 20, 9-4 p.m.
Why Go:
More than 60 vendors and crafters will be selling jewelry, candles, home decor, chocolate treats and so much more. Get an early start on holiday shopping or pick something up for yourself.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Where/When: Dunkin Donuts Center, 1 LaSalle Square, Providence, RI; Friday, Nov. 25, at 4 p.m., 8 p.m.

Get moved and inspired by this powerful group of musicians. The lights, sounds will leave you breathless.
