Friends of Attleboro Public Library Feature Aristocats Musical Program

Lloyd Kaplan's Artistocrats at Attleboro's public library.

It is as if the s antique grandfather clock marked time with the music.

The Friends of Attleboro Public Library provided for public enjoyment the classic architectural space of the former second floor lobby of the library Sunday afternoon for a musical interlude featuring popular American small group jazz performed by the Aristocats. The Aristocats offered an instrumental and vocal program to the appreciative audience, which was also punctuated by a bit of homespun humor.

About 70 music lovers filled the hall with abundant three-sided seating with a noticeable increase in attendance compared to last year’s program.

Clarinetist and saxophonist, Lloyd Kaplan, served as master of ceremonies for the quartet. Red McDonald strummed his jazz guitar while Bob Peterutti played bass as Phil Morrison provided percussion (drums) along with vocal skills – all are accomplished professional musicians.

Kaplan has taught music appreciation classes at Community College of Rhode Island and is known by local seniors for his music appreciation classes provided during recent years at the Rev. Gordon N. Larson Senior Center on South Main Street in Attleboro. Kaplan enjoys an ardent fan following here in Attleboro – especially those who hearken to America’s big band era.
