Triboro Youth Theatre Presents The Adventures of Tom Sawyer

Triboro Youth Theatre will present the musical, "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" at in Attleboro on Friday and Saturday, October 28 & 29 at 7 pm and Sunday, October 30 at 2 pm.

Andrew Faria, 11 as Tom Sawyer TYT's middle school students bring Mark Twain's classic story to exuberant musical life in this Broadway adaptation of America 's favorite book. THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER is the irresistible story of a fourteen-year-old boy growing up in the heartland of America . In the course of the story, Tom matches wits with his stern Aunt Polly, falls in love with the beautiful, feisty Becky Thatcher, and goes on the adventure of his life with Becky and that irresistible renegade, Huckleberry Finn. Along the way we meet a terrifying villain named Injun Joe, Tom's bratty half-brother Sid, and all the other boys and girls in the village.  

The show is a part of Attleboro's 1 Adventure, 1 Book, 1 Community Big Read program and has been sponsored by a generous grant by former Mayor Judy Robbins. "We're very excited to share this experience and this book with the entire community," said Vivian Humphrey, Triboro's Artistic Director and Director of the musical.  "An audience that has examined the work before coming to the theater brings a different level of understanding to the material," she said.

The show stars 11 year old, Andrew Faria of East Providence, RI, in the role of Tom Sawyer.  Andrew was last seen as JoJo in TYT's summer production of "Seussical."   Meghan Cooper, 12, of Attleboro plays Aunt Polly.  Matthew Corbett, 14 of Attleboro plays Injun Joe. Meghan and Matthew have performed in over 20 Triboro shows each. Gabby Millard, 13, of Attleboro plays Huckleberry Finn. Gabby is one of many girls playing boy parts.  Hana Caster, 13, of North Attleboro plays Becky Thatcher and Teddy Drummond, 13 also of North Attleboro plays her father, Judge Thacher.

The  Music Director for the play is David Renoni, TYT's Assoc. Artistic Director and a music teacher at Brennan Middle School in Attleboro.  Erin Caster, 17 a senior at North Attleboro High School is the choreographer and Carlen Adler is the Costume Designer.

"This production is the biggest show we've produced for this age level," Humphrey said.  "We're treating it as we would one of our high school or college shows with special lighting, scenery and costume effects. Everyone is very excited to present it to the community."
