Rhode Island Watercolor Society FREE Golden Paints Demo & Water Exhibit Opening

The Rhode Island Watercolor Society announces its upcoming open juried art competition “Water” which celebrates all 2-D media and collage. Works selected for the show will on display and for sale from July 22 - August 9, 2012 at the Society’s Gallery, located at the J. C. Potter Casino (Boat House) in Slater Memorial Park, Armistice Boulevard, Pawtucket, RI

The Society encourages all to attend the Opening Reception to be held on Sunday, July 22, from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Society’s Gallery, and meet the participating artists. Golden Paints will be at the Gallery at 2pm to give a FREE Demo of their product. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM and Sunday from 1 to 5 PM. FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

The show is judged by leading landscape painter and printmaker, Nancy Friese, who paints outdoors from direct observation, often of the Rhode Island landscape, where she also lives and teaches at the Rhode Island School of Design. She has also traveled widely to paint views from such places as Japan, Pont-Aven and Giverny, France, her native North Dakota and other scenes around New England.
