Volunteers Needed for Annual River Cleanup

There will be awards for largest volunteer group, most trash collected, most unusual item found, oldest volunteer and family with most volunteers.

The seventh annual City of Attleboro River Clean Up will take place Saturday, April 13 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. It will take place rain or shine.

Volunteers from Attleboro and surrounding towns are needed to join with the famous Attleboro River Rats for a fun morning of cleaning and trash collecting along the riverbanks and walking trails. The general public, Boy Scouts, Attleboro Land Trust and other local groups will work alongside our elected officials, including Mayor Kevin Dumas and city councilors.

Event co-chairs are City Councilors Brian Kirby and Shannon Heagney.  Volunteers can sign up for the event Saturday at the tent located at the Community Gardens on Riverbank Road in Attleboro. Limited supplies will be available, although anyone wanting to be a River Rat should bring their own waders or wetsuit. Dunkin Donuts will once again supply free refreshments.
