National Grid Customers in Seekonk Still Without Power

The electric company is working to restore power to 400,000 customers in Massachusetts.

Crews from National Grid continue their resoration process after a pre-Halloween storm smacked into Massachusetts leaving 400,000 customers in Massachusetts without power and resulted in a State of Emergency. More than 1,000 of those customers were in Attleboro.

“First and foremost, we urge customers to be safe," National Grid Massachusetts President Marcy Reed said. "Having snow of this magnitude this early is an unusual event for us even in Massachusetts, but National Grid has been poised and ready to meet this winter season head-on."

"We are in full restoration mode,” she added. “It’s our job to provide safe and reliable energy to our customers and during adverse events, our role is heightened."

The company continues to ask that people stay clear of downed wires inclulding telephone, fiber optic and cable TV wires because they may be energized.

Contractor crews from as far away as North Carolina, Michigan and Ohio are aiding in the response. The company expects to have estimated restoration times available later today or early Monday. For folks in Seekonk and nearby Seekonk that's not good news.
