Library Book Sale Starts Today

Take a look at what's happening in Attleboro and Seekonk.

1. The annual Fall Book Sale kicks off today at Attleboro Public Library. The event raises money for the library. It will feature hardcover and paperback books as well cassettes, CDs, VHS tapes and DVDs. With a $5 raffle, you have a chance to win a slew of gift certificates and other prizes. The sale will begin today from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. (free for Friends of Library members, $20 for others) and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (free for everybody), then continues Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (free for everybody).

2. The Seekonk 200 will take place Saturday at Seekonk Speedway, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the town, as well displaying an evening of great racing and raising money for the Ronald McDonald House of Providence. Go here for more details. 

3. Installation of the long-awaited Attleboro dog park on Pond Street North will begin Sunday at 10 a.m. Volunteers are needed. If you are interested in helping this Sunday, leave a message on the dog park committee's Facebook page or by send an email to attleborodogpark@yahoo.com. Free hot dogs will be given to those who hep. Volunteers are also needed next Sunday and the Sunday after (10 a.m. both days) to finish the setup.

4. The 38th annual Pumpkin Somethin Fall Festival will take place Saturday at Mildred H. Aitken Elementary in Seekonk beginning at 10 a.m.

5. Prepare to get wet today. The National Weather Service says there is a 90 percent chance of daytime rain and 80 percent of nighttime rain in the area. The daytime high is expected to reach 59 and wind gusts could hit 22 mph. The nighttime low is expected to be 56.
