Get Out! Six Things to Do Around Attleboro This Weekend

Here are some exciting events taking place this weekend within a short drive from the 'Boro that include Chicago, Journey, mini-golf and Fenway Park!

  1. Rebeckha Lynn Whitefiled Foundation Mini-Golf Tournament:
    Where/When:  , 754 Newport Ave., Attleboro, MA 02703, August 13 from 8 a.m. to noon.
    Why Go: Support the Rebeckha Lynn Whitefield Foundation by enjoying a morning of mini-golf at the Atlantic Golf Center in South Attleboro! The foundation supports youth and youth organizations. Rebeckha touched a lot of lives in her short time on this earth and her non-profit organization has donated more than $34,000 in support, scholarships and equipment, throughout the City of Attleboro. All of the funds go directly to the youth of the Attleboro area.
    Pricing: $6. 
  2. Zooartyssey and Odyssey though living art 
    Where/When: Roger Williams Park Zoo, Providence, RI, Friday August 12, 19 and 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. 
    Why Go: Enjoy an unforgettable experience as you explore the zoo during the evening at sunset! You will discover enchanting and engaging living art characters created by Rhode Island’s renowned performance artists, TEN31 Productions. In addition to the living art there will be animals on exhibit and live music. Fod and beverages including beer and wine will be available for purchase. This event is great for all ages! 
    Pricing: $15 adults ($10 for RWP Zoo members), $10 seniors & children ($5 for RWP Zoo members).
  3.  Jimmy Fund Fantasy Day:
    Where/When: Fenway Park, Boston, August 13
    Why Go: Come enjoy activities, face painting, contests, tours, and more by purchasing a Fan Zone ticket. Jimmy Fund Fantasy Day at Fenway gives you all of the action and excitement of playing out your baseball dreams while supporting the fight against cancer. More than 3,000 people attended in 2010, helping raise nearly $350,000 and since 1992 the event has raised nearly $6 million in support of cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber.
    Pricing:  $15. ages 12 and older, $10 children age 3 to 11, free under age 3 and family packages available. 
  4. Journey with foreigner and Night Ranger:
    Where/When: Comcast Center, Mansfield, August 12 at 7 p.m. 
    Why Go: Do you remember singing along to "Don't Stop Believin" and “Any Way You Want It”? How about dancing with your favorite someone to “Open Arms” and “Faithfully”? You can re-live the 80's with an evening featuring Journey, Foreigner and Night Ranger at the Comcast Center!

  5.  CHICAGO Presented by the Star Players of Bristol County:
    Where/When: Friedman Middle School, 500 Norton Ave., Taunton, August 12, 13, 18, 19, 20 at 7:30 p.m. and August 14 and 21 at 2 p.m.
    Why Go: Want to enjoy a night out at the theatre?  Come enjoy the Star Players of Bristol County perform the broadway musical "Chicago"!  Gary Poholek of North Attleboro will be playing Billy Flynn. "Chicago" is a musical set in prohibition-era Chicago with music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb and book by Ebb and Bob Fosse.  The story is a satire on corruption in the administration of criminal justice.
