Get Out! Five Things to Do Around Attleboro This Weekend

Here are some fun events taking place this weekend within a short drive from the 'Boro that include a big apple, The Lion King, a wine tasting, encampment and a harvest festival!


  1. Where/When
    :  Patriot Place, Foxboro, September 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
    Why Go: Come enjoy this great event sponsored by Ocean Spray!  The day will include a cranberry harvest in the cranberry bogs behind the Bass Pro Shop, a Harvest Hayride, farmers market, a pumpkin sculpting demo and pumpkin painting and a taste of patriots place.

  2. International Wine & Cheese Tasting 
    Where/When
    :  Slater Mill Museum, 67 Roosevelt Avenue, Pawtucket, RI, September 23 from 6 to 9 p.m.
    Why Go: Guests will enjoy a diverse selection of wines from around the world, paired cheeses, passed hors d'oevres and desserts.  Mark Gasbarro of Gasbarro's wines will present a selection of wines from Italy, France, Argentina, Spain and the USA which will be available for purchase.

  3. The Lion King 3D 
    Where/When
    :  National Amusements Showcase Theatre, North Attleboro or Foxboro, Showtimes daily    
    Why Go:  Do not miss this Disney hit starring Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick and James Earl Jones, in 3D!  This movie is open for a limited run for two weeks only, come see Simba and his friends in this classic story that includes the hit songs "Circle of Life" and "I Just Can't Wait to Be King".

  4. Where/When:  207 Arnold Street, Wrentham, daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
    Why Go:  Get in the fall spirit at The Big Apple Farm! This working farm is only a short drive from the 'Boro and is a family favorite offering something for all ages.  Pick out a pumpkin, try a handpicked apple, enjoy a homemade donut with apple cider, a hand dipped caramel or candy apple or a dish of ice cream!  Hayrides are offered on fall weekends.

  5. Revolutionary War Encampment Living History Weekend 
    Where/When:  Smith-Appleby House, 330 Stillwater Road, Smithfield, RI, September 24 and 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
    Why Go:  Colonial Minutemen, militia and British Red Coats will do battle at this event that will bring you back in history! Come experience a day from a long ago era that will include living history demos including fire starting, musket ball making and campfire cooking, a free museum tour, children's military drills, tug of war and more.     
    Pricing:  Adults Donation $4. Children under 12 are free
