'Bark for a Park' Contest Could Help Pay for Attleboro Dog Park

The winning community will win $100,000 to be used towards a community dog park.

The Attleboro Dog Park Committee has entered the city into a contest through www.barkforyourpark.com. The winning community will win $100,000 to be used towards a community dog park.

According to the contest, communities will be judged based on the support of the project.

The Dog Park Committee has been busy trying to raise funds to open a dog park on Pond Street and this would cover all necessary costs if Attleboro wins.

"This contest is a contest driven by community spirit," said Dog Park Committee Member Raymond Cord. "With over 2,667 licensed dogs in the city of Attleboro and no place for them to play, I can't imagine a single reason that we shouldn't be able to rally the votes to beat out the other communities for the $100,000. It's free to vote and takes only one minute online."

The Dog Park Committee hopes to encourage members of the community to register their support of the Attleboro Dog Park on the website. A total of 15 finalists will be chosen. The 15 communities will be showcased, then a winning community will be chosen.

Any money not used to finish the construction of the dog park will be donated by PetSafe to the Attleboro Animal Shelter.

"This would be an awesome opportunity for the community," Cord said. "In case we don't win please continue to support our dog park fundraising efforts and thank you to all those that already do."
