GBCA Boys’ Basketball Team Opens Quest for New England Crown

The boys’ basketball team of Grace Baptist Christian Academy of Attleboro will begin play Tuesday in the Region Tournament of the New England Association of Christian Schools.

          The Centurions will face Stedfast Christian Academy of Groton, Conn., Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Twin City Christian School of Lunenburg in a quarterfinal-round game of the regional tourney. If victorious, GBCA will advance to Friday’s semifinal-round opposite either South Merrimack Christian Academy of Merrimack, N.H., or Emmanuel Christian School of Newington, Conn., also in Lunenburg.

          The Region Tournament concludes Saturday with consolation and championship games in Lunenburg.

          Representing GBCA in the regional event are Nate Corkum, Will Evans, Lee Nichols, Shyheem Shorey, Bryan Pacheco, Alex Rodrigues, Jonathan Bryden, Aiden Flynn, Cullen Hopkins, Josh Davis, Will Turcotte, Chris Dutton and Coach Jeff Bailey.

          The Centurions are 10-6 overall this season and qualified for the New England tourney for the first time in four years after recently upsetting Twin City, 42-37, in the final of the State Tournament sponsored by the Massachusetts Association of Christian Schools.
