You are right. Lots of people unemployed, under-employed, demoralized, discouraged, or stuck in jobs have personal policies and working conditions that no one should have to endure. Here in the USA. I had a friend who 'worked' 8-10 hours a day on her computer and trying to do whatever she could to get a job. She never did get a job.   more ›

AMJ Dance a Family Tradition in Attleboro for Almost 60 Years

Studio director Gay Heather Barboza shares the story of AMJ starting with her family.

Gay Heather Barboza said she’s been dancing all her life, which is not exactly an exaggeration. “I started, maybe in the womb?” she said laughing.  “It was always a part of my life, I never knew anything different.” Maybe a little bit of an exaggeration. She said her mother and aunts started the AMJ Dance Studio in 1954, and moved all over Attleboro to teach dance. She said AMJ stands for the names of her mother and aunts, April, May and June. Barboza said the studio moved around a lot in those days. “We’ve been everywhere,” she said. “We pretty much rented out church halls and music halls in the 60s. We had a permanent hall above the Lantern Lodge, which is now the Oasis.” She added while they had a space on the second floor, they still …

Your Next Car: What's It Going to Be?

I'm hoping to drive my old beater into the ground before we need to get another car, but I'm on the lookout. What's your next car going to be?

My wife and I drive a perfectly good 2002 Nissan Sentra with 127,318 miles on it. "Stella" has four wheels and gets us from Point A to Point B. We've reached the stage in the life of the car where we don't repair body damage (as you can tell from the accompanying photo). I'm ashamed for my Dad to see it. But hey, it's paid for. Even though I'd love to get 200K miles out of Stella, she has some mechanical problems, like a seized bolt that has left the transmission fluid unchangeable for about eight years. She could conk out any old day. So we've been on the lookout for our next car. I'm paying attention to car commercials, asking friends about their cars. You know the feeling. We're looking for something that gets good gas mileage, and is …

We had a BBQ chicken with onions this week at Scorpio's Restaurant in Attleboro and it was fabulous. Smokey flavor, lots of cheese and chunks of chicken, just a little bite to it. Side salad was terrific, too, no iceberg lettuce is served there.   more ›
