I am sad to say “See you later” to the dog days of Summer, but we have no choice! The first day of Fall is September 23 and before you know it Old Man Winter will be knocking! Most New Englanders enjoy all the seasons offered to us each year. From the splashing of waves at the beach to the vibrant colors of turning leaves and to outlines of snow angels after a storm, New England really is beautiful! No matter what the season is, the view from an animal sitting in a shelter waiting for a home to call their own, never changes! They may get to smell the changing seasons from inside those shelter walls but they never get to truly experience them as they would most enjoy – with a family to call their own. As Summer passes us by and we prepare for Fall, I cannot help but think of what is next. Although I personally love winter, my heart aches to think of the animals that will spend the cold lonely nights sitting inside the shelter. While we are all cozy in our homes our shelter kids lay on a cold cement floor just dreaming of a cozy home to rest their heads. We do have a group of volunteers who go down to the Shelter during cold months to “lock down” late in the evening. This means we close the kennel doors, warm up their blankets in the drier and say “Good Night” to our canine kids in need. I know when I go and lock down, I cannot help but think as I drive out the shelter driveway “I wish we could do more for them!" There is one thing we can do and you can help us do it! We can make a commitment to not allow any of our canine kids in need to spend another winter laying on that cold cement Shelter floor! I hope you would agree that just because Shelter animals are homeless animals doesn’t mean they do not deserve to be loved and cared for and they deserve to have their stay with us as stress free as possible! Let’s make 2011 the year that Attleboro Animal Shelter kids will never know what it’s like to spend a night resting their head on that cold floor! Please help spread the word and helps us help them! You can make this dream a reality, through the Donate a Kuranda Bed program.
Donating is easy and no fuss over which one to donate, the work is all done all you need to do is ask people who are willing to donate.
