Wanted: Your Thanksgiving Day Crafts and Recipes

Whether it's your grandmother's recipe for butternut squash or something you whipped up on your own, share it here.

Attleboro has so many young families and some may need help planning that perfect Thanksgiving Day dinner while others, who have been making the same traditional recipe for years, may be looking for something new to set down on the dining room table. So why not share your recipe with the rest of your Attleboro neighbors?

We want them all including side dishes, desserts and of course yummy stuffing. While I'm a pretty good cook, I will be the first to admit that I'm not the best baker. So, each year I take on another challenge, learning how to bake a new pie or dessert.

Don't have a recipe to share? How about a craft idea? My kids and I love decorating the thanksgiving day table. Each year we create a new Thanksgiving Day craft.

Here's a fast one. Take a red apple and put it on its side. Get a box of raisens (white grape and red grape for variety). Then grab a box of colored club toothpicks. Stick six raisins on them. Stick the toothpicks (as many or as little as your kiddos prefer) on the back of the apple. If you don't have any raisins at home, no worries use mini marshmallows instead.

Add two googly eyes and you're done. It's fast, simple and the kids love them.

I did a great story at the Seekonk Library this past year and I love her recipe but her tips are even better. So make sure to add Benny's to your shopping list for her secret tool. http://seekonk.patch.com/articles/viewfinder-pie-baking-101

A fun Thanksgiving Tradition you could implement in your home (especially if you have a young family) is to get a plain white table cloth. Use fabric paint and paint the palm & fingers of your child's hand and put their hand-prints on the table cloth. Label the child's name and year. Next year, add new prints! We do this with our Christmas Tree Skirt and it's a fun way to watch your child grow over the years.

Another great table cloth idea is to have each person who is attending your Thanksgiving Dinner write a little note of what they are thankful for and submit them to you before the big day (so as to give you plenty of time to do the next steps). Scan them into your computer and print onto iron-on sheets you can get at a local craft store. You can cover your table cloth with everyone's thankful notes to be read and added on throughout the years.

Here are some more great ideas from some online sites:

One of my favorite websites, Living Locurto, has great ideas for Thanksgiving Treats... http://www.livinglocurto.com/2011/11/thanksgiving-food-ideas/
Family Fun has some great craft ideas for kids of any age... http://familyfun.go.com/thanksgiving/thanksgiving-craft-decorations/

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!
