Stolen Dog Returns to Animal Shelter
A volunteer says officials can't discuss the situation in detail because of an active investigation.
A little more than 24 hours after he was illegally taken from the Attleboro Animal Shelter, Dozer the pit bull was back Sunday morning. Details of what happened to the brindle dog are not clear.
Shelter volunteer Steven Denlea told Attleboro Patch, "At this time due to it being an active Attleboro police investigation we can not comment on the details. Dozer is safe again and looking for his 'furever' home. We are thankful to all the support that has poured in from the community."
A person or persons broke into the shelter and took Dozer between 6 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday, Denlea said. This sparked a large search effort, which included a wide distribution of fliers that could be seen on business windows and other places throughout the community.
Prior to the theft, Dozer had been at the shelter on Pond Street North for more than a year.
