Special Needs Teacher Dies
Marianne Ward taught at Attleboro High School for many years.
There was a moment of silence at the Attleboro School Committee meeting Monday night in memory of Marianne Ward, a former Attleboro High School special needs teacher. She died Sunday at age 60.
School Committee member David Murphy, an Attleboro High alumnus who knew Ward his whole life, said she was a "tireless advocate for the students of Attleboro, particularly students of high-risk populations."
"She was an incredible advocate for children who did not have their own voice," said Pia Durkin, superintendent of the Attleboro school district. "She was on of those people who saw past behavior, who saw personality, who saw hope and saw optimism in everything she touched."
