Should Scott Brown Run for Governor?

A UMass Lowell/Boston Herald poll shows he is in a strong position to run in 2014.

Results of a UMass Lowell/Boston Herald poll this week show former Senator Scott Brown is more popular than he was when he lost his re-election bid last fall and is in a strong position to run for Governor in 2014.

The independent, nonpartisan poll surveyed 600 Massachusetts registered voters between Saturday, March 2 and Tuesday, March 5.

With regard to Brown, the poll – which asked voters for their opinions on whether they would vote for Brown if he runs for governor – showed he has considerable bipartisan support, with 32.7 percent saying they are very likely to vote for him and 26 percent somewhat likely.

Results showed that Brown, who garnered support of 92.2 percent of Republicans polled and 36.7 percent of Democrats, had more name recognition than other possible candidates, including Charlie Baker (67.2 percent combined said they had no opinion/never heard of Baker), former Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey (58.4 percent combined no opinion/never heard of) and state Treasurer Steve Grossman (79.5 percent no opinion/never heard of).

No, he should stay on FOX news where he belongs.

No. He says he is an Independent...really? Then he should have an "I" after his name .Last time I checked he had a "R". Don't trust him.

I think He should run, and stay on Fox News. It will ensure a second political loss for Him, and maybe We will finally get the message.

If Brown is the Republican nominee, I will vote for him. However, I'd prefer a fiscally conservative Republican for all the reasons known to those of us who watch the parade of fraud, abuse, cronyism and corruption march by. All at great taxpayer's expense.

I really hope he is not the nominee. He ran a terrible campaign. I was very disappointed.
However, I certainly won't vote for a Democrat. But they will win, with or without Brown.

I would not vote for a candidate whose favorite Supreme Court justice is Antonin Scalia.

No Way! I am with Paul L. ... anyone who thinks Scalia is a good SCJ isn't worthy of my vote. And all that sophomoric tommyhawkin' last fall over Elizabeth Warren was a disgrace. Maybe Scott should contact all those Kings and Queens about getting a job.

The first question to ask needs to be what are his qualifications to be a good governor. I think he's a Tea Party Republican and would be a disaster in such a responsible position. Whenever he attacked then-challenger Elizabeth Warren, in the first moments of the first Senatorial debate, everyone could see that as a scurrilous racist and sexist attack. He showed and continued to show his true colors during his stint as senator.
Scott Brown had a lucky win, supported by millions of dollars of advertisement money from ALEC and other rightwing groups. He had no staying power, IMO, in Mass.

This is pointless. Same people that are saying no voted for Obama. If you criticize Obama you are racists. Warren lied about her heritage snd Brown called her out. He was right to do it. But he is the racist. It is convenient being a liberal isn't it

No, if your reasons for criticizing Obama, conscious or unconscious, have to do with the color of our President's skin, then you are racist.

It is convenient spinning everything to suit your prejudices, isn't it?

I feel bad for the 52% that didn't keep him in the senate. Give it a few years you'll turn on Pinnochiohontas.

Dan, I see you have not purchased a new joke book in the past 10 months or so. Does this material go over well on Thursday nights at Tahiti? Sad crowd.

What's wrong with Tahiti's? The ambiance is dark, with a few tv's running. Should make you feel right at home....in your mom's basement.
Just wondering how your back is doing? And are you ever going back to work?

Yes we need to get someone in office who is not going to let all the freeloaders keep mooching off all of us who actually work and try to better ourselves. Enough is enough deval has ruined our state. Brown would save us like mitt did.

Speaking of twenty years from now--since everybody here seems to have a crystal ball: I see people caring less and less about color. I see Indiana seceding from the Union. I see Avon as selectman (go Avon!). I see Janet and Deval in a lovely fall wedding. I see fewer guns and happier people--LIVING people ... I see Scott Brown and he still looks good, but talks too much and says too little.
