Seekonk Teachers Get 1% Raise in 2012, 2% in 2013
The school committee approves a collective bargaining agreement with the teachers union.
Teachers, advisors and coaches in the Seekonk school district will see a 1 percent increase in their paychecks starting Sept. 1. Their salaries will rise 2 percent above the current rate next fall. This is the result of a collective bargaining agreement between the Seekonk School Committee and the Seekonk Educators Association that the committee unanimously approved Monday night.
The previous CBA, which went into effect in September 2008, expired last fall. The district had been operating under the terms of the old document since its expiration. The new CBA retroactively covers the previous year, and is in effect through Aug. 31, 2014. The union members received no raise for the 2011-12 school year.
A document stating the changes in the new CBA, including the raises, is attached to this article. The previous CBA, which includes salary ranges, can be found here.
